About the Event
About Jen Parkhill:
Jen Parkhill “JP” (they/she) is a first generation Cuban-American Austin based, poet, artist, cat lover, and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
JP earned their BFA from the Tisch school of the arts, NYU, and now vacillates between work behind and in front of the camera, often integrating their work as a spoken word artist into their film projects.
As a genderqueer writer, performer, filmmaker, and survivor of a tumultuous youth, JP's work is deeply rooted in themes of queerness, family, relationships, addiction, shame, and the courage it takes to live an authentic life in the face of limiting societal belief systems.
Most recently JP was awarded the grand poetry prize for their poem "Yellow" by Moleskine & Vocal for Pride Month's "True Colors" Challenge.
